BazarBook — common questions

Quick answers about billing, GST, udhaar khata, languages and pricing — the things shopkeepers ask before they start.

What is BazarBook?

BazarBook is a billing, inventory and digital-khata app for Indian shops. You can bill customers fast (including by voice), make GST or plain bills, track your stock, and keep every customer’s udhaar — all from your phone, in Hindi, Gujarati or English.

Is BazarBook fast enough for a busy counter?

Yes. It’s POS-style: your best-sellers show up as one-tap tiles, search finds anything else instantly, and you can hold an order to serve the next customer. Voice is an option for when your hands are full — not the only way to bill.

Do I need a barcode scanner?

No. BazarBook bills from tap tiles and product search, not barcode scanning. For counter shops where items often aren’t barcoded, that’s quick to set up and fast at the till.

Does BazarBook do full accounting?

Yes, optionally. On the Medium plan you can switch on expenses, purchases, cash book and P&L / tax / balance-sheet reports — one module at a time, or keep it to just billing and khata. There’s also Munim, an AI that answers questions about your shop from your own numbers.

Can my worker have their own login?

Yes, on the Medium plan. You add staff from the Staff screen — each one gets a username and password you set (no email or phone of their own needed) and signs in on the same login page. Up to five staff logins for a shop.

Can I stop staff from seeing my profit and my accounts?

Yes. Purchase cost is hidden from a staff login unless you allow that role to see it, and expenses, purchases, cash book, P&L / tax reports, settings and your subscription are owner-only whatever the role. Each role — cashier, salesperson, inventory manager, manager — can be edited to fit your shop, and if someone leaves you remove them and they are signed out everywhere at once.

Is there a desktop app, or only a phone app?

Both. BazarBook runs on your phone and in any browser, and there’s a Windows desktop app that works offline and prints bills. Log in on any device and everything stays in sync.

Does BazarBook handle GST?

Yes. It makes GST tax invoices with HSN codes, and on the Medium plan you get a GST / tax summary and P&L reports. Not registered? Make a plain bill instead.

Does BazarBook work in Hindi and Gujarati?

Yes. The whole app runs in Gujarati, Hindi or English, and voice billing understands Hindi and Gujarati too.

Do I need a GST number to use BazarBook?

No. If you are not registered, you make a plain bill with the total. If you are registered, switch GST on and it prints a proper tax invoice with your GSTIN, the HSN code and the tax split.

Can I bill by voice?

Yes. Hold the mic and say the items in Hindi or Gujarati — it picks them, adds the quantity and shows the total while you bag the order.

Does BazarBook work without internet?

On the Windows desktop app, yes — if your connection drops you can keep billing, and those sales sync on their own once you are back online. On the phone and in the browser you need a connection to save a bill.

Can I track udhaar and customer khata?

Yes. Every customer has a khata — put a bill on udhaar, see the pending amount, and send a WhatsApp reminder from their ledger when it is due.

Can I sell loose items by weight?

Yes. Set a per-kg or per-litre rate and sell any amount — 250 g, 750 g, 3 kg — and the price is worked out for you.

Can I send bills to customers on WhatsApp?

Yes. Share the bill to the customer’s number in a tap — a GST invoice if you are registered, or a plain bill if not.

Do I need a computer?

No. BazarBook runs on your phone, and also in any computer browser — you can install it like an app. A printer is optional, only if you want printed bills.

Is my data safe if I lose my phone?

Yes. Your data is saved to your account, not just the phone. Log in on another phone and everything is there.

What kinds of shops is BazarBook for?

Small counter shops — kirana and grocery, medical stores and pharmacies, garment and clothing shops, general stores and more. If you bill customers and track stock or udhaar, it fits.

How much does BazarBook cost?

There is a 7-day free trial with no card needed. After that, plans start at ₹99/month for a single shop.
