Overview

BazarBook provides point-of-sale, billing, inventory, and business-management software for shopkeepers and small businesses. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the BazarBook app and website, how we use and protect it, and the choices and rights you have. By using BazarBook, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to run your shop and improve the service:

  • Account information — your name, email address, phone number, business or shop name, and a securely hashed password.
  • Business records — the products, prices, stock levels, sales, invoices, expenses, and reports you create in BazarBook.
  • Customer information you enter — the names, phone numbers, and outstanding balances you add to your customer ledger.
  • Voice input — when you use voice billing, your speech is converted to text to record the sale and is not used for any other purpose.
  • Payment information — subscription payments are handled by our payment partner, Razorpay. We receive confirmation and reference IDs, not your full card or bank details.
  • Device and usage data — IP address, browser and device type, and activity logs used to keep your account secure and diagnose issues.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to operate and improve BazarBook, specifically to:

  • Provide core features such as billing, inventory tracking, customer ledgers, and reports.
  • Generate your analytics, dashboards, and GST-ready invoices.
  • Process and manage your subscription and payments.
  • Send transactional messages such as OTPs, receipts, and renewal reminders.
  • Provide customer support and respond to your requests.
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.
  • Meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

We do not sell your personal or business data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

How We Share Information

We share data only when it is necessary to operate the service:

  • Service providers — trusted partners for cloud hosting, payment processing (Razorpay), and SMS/email delivery, who are bound by confidentiality obligations.
  • Within your organization — owners and employees can access shop data according to the roles and branch permissions you assign.
  • Legal reasons — when required by applicable law, regulation, or a valid legal request.
  • Business transfers — if BazarBook is involved in a merger or acquisition, data may transfer under the same protections, and you will be notified.

We never sell or rent your personal or business data.

Data Security

We protect your data using industry-standard safeguards:

  • Encryption of data in transit using TLS/SSL.
  • Passwords stored using one-way hashing — never in plain text.
  • Role-based access controls so staff only see what they need.
  • Restricted internal access and regular, secure backups.

No system can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we work continuously to protect your information.

Data Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we delete or anonymize your personal and business data within 90 days — except where we must retain certain records, such as invoices, for longer to meet tax and legal requirements. You can export your data from your dashboard at any time before deletion.

Your Rights & Choices

You are in control of your information. You can:

  • Access and review the data held in your account.
  • Correct or update your profile and business details.
  • Export your business data from the dashboard.
  • Delete your account and request removal of your personal data.
  • Withdraw consent or object to certain processing.

To exercise any of these rights, use your dashboard settings or contact us at the email below.

Voice Data

Voice billing is optional and works only after you grant microphone permission in your browser. When enabled, your speech is processed to identify the item, quantity, and amount so the sale can be recorded. Voice input is used solely for this purpose, is never used for advertising, and you can turn the microphone off at any time.

Cookies & Tracking

We use essential cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and keep the service secure. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can manage cookies through your browser settings, though disabling essential cookies may affect how BazarBook works.

Children's Privacy

BazarBook is intended for business owners and is not directed at individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a minor has provided us with data, please contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect new features or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and notify you within the app or by email. Your continued use of BazarBook after an update means you accept the revised policy.
